Acknowledging The Normalization Of The Minam Flood Prevent River, Vice Regent: Sigi Regency's APBD Is Very Limited

SULTENG - Deputy Regent of Sigi Regency, Samuel Yansen Pongi admitted, his party has shortcomings in efforts to prevent natural disasters. Mainly related to normalization and improvement of watersheds (DAS).

"This is because Sigi's APBD is very limited, so we really need the support of the central government and other multi-party parties, to jointly improve the quality of the watershed," said Deputy Regent Samuel in Sigi, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng), quoted from Antara, Thursday 27 October.

Therefore, he said, the Sigi Regency Government is intensely building coordination and communication regarding river normalization with the Ministry of PUPR, especially the Sulawesi River Basin Center (BWSS) III in Palu.

Deputy Regent Samuel said that one of the rivers that need to be normalized in Sigi is the Gumbasa River in Gumbasa District.

He conveyed this, reflecting on the flood that submerged North Pakuli Village, Gumbasa District on Monday, October 24. The flood began with high rainfall intensity which led to the breakdown of the Gumbasa River embankment so that the overflow submerged people's houses.

Based on data from Gumbasa Subdistrict, the flood caused 180 houses to be affected, 103 families fled to the Al-Anshar Mosque, 254 families or 1,214 people fled to the homes of relatives and relatives.

Deputy Regent Samuel also invited residents and all relevant stakeholders to work together to reduce the risks and impacts of natural disasters such as floods due to the overflow of the Gumbasa River.

He said the community could reduce the risk of potential flooding, erosion, and landslides by intensifying environmental conservation and maintaining watersheds.

"This is where the importance of the involvement of all parties to preserve the environment, especially planting trees in arid areas and potentially causing disasters and planting bamboo along the river," he said.
