JAKARTA - The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) announced a new list of 65 sirop drugs that do not use four solvents, namely glycol propylene, glycol polyethylene, sorbitol, and/or glycerin/glicerol.
"This is their list that is safe from EG and DEG because it does not contain the four solvents," said Head of BPOM Penny K. Lukito at a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, October 27.
Earlier on Sunday, October 23, BPOM issued 133 lists of sirop drugs that did not contain the four solvents. The list was released based on BPOM registration data. BPOM's research will continue to process.
According to him, there are still a number of products that do not contain the four solvents but are still in the process of being submitted.
His party will convey additional information to the public when the research is said to be completed.
“Of course we continue to move with research because of the amount of the drug, the total of this drug is very large. So of course this is moving on and now there is an addition (total, red.) 198, including the 133 (previously, ed.),” said Penny.
Daily Executive Deputy for Drug Control, Narcotics, Psychotropics, Precursors, and Addictive Substances of BPOM Elin Herlina said an additional list of 65 sirop drugs based on BPOM searches from previous ones and some are in the process of extending distribution permits and changing products or changing variations.
He also announced that there is one drug in the form of dry sirps and oral fluids that does not use the solvent of glycol propylene, glycol polyethylene, sorbitol, and/or glycerin/glicerol.
" “ We don't include one drug in its list (one drug, ed.), but we inform you that the product does not contain four solvents so it is safe to use," he said.
This latest list will be input for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) to make a circular addressed to health workers so that these products can be prescribed.
