Furthermore, he said, 30 minutes later since the incident, the Lion Air plane managed to land again at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Lion Air also spoke about the Lion Air JT330 plane which had to return to Soekarno-Hatta Airport due to engine trouble.

Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala stated that the Lion Air plane with flight number JT-330 for the Jakarta-Palembang route which was turning back to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, had been confirmed to be in a proper and safe condition before being flown.

Danang added the plane has also passed initial checks. "Lion Air flight JT-330 has been properly prepared. Before departure, the Boeing 737-800NG registered with PK-LKK is declared feasible and safe to operate through pre-flight checks", said Danang.

After the operational handling process, and passenger and cargo services on the ground were completed, the Lion Air plane with flight number JT-330 took off at 17.13 WIB with six crew and 169 passengers.

"The airborne phase is running normally. The pilot carries out the operation of the aircraft according to procedures. At a cruising altitude of 3,000 feet, the pilot feels that the performance of one of the engine components of the aircraft is not as good as it should be and indicates that it needs to be checked immediately", he said.

Danang said, in ensuring the safety and security of the flight (safety first), the pilot decided to return to the airport of origin (return to base) at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"The plane landed normally and safely. After the plane stopped and parked on the parking runway (apron), all passengers were directed to the waiting room (boarding gate) to get more information. The process of passengers getting off the plane (disembarked) was carried out normally", he said.
