ACEH - The Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) through the Conservation Resort for the North Aceh Region 12 Conservation Section Region I Lhokseumawe evacuated a gibbon gibbon (symphalangus syndactylus) which was kept by residents in Bireuen Regency. Head of the Conservation Resort Region 12 KSDA North Aceh Nurdin said the evacuation took place after residents who kept it handed it over to the BKSDA. "The animal was treated by residents of Pandrah Kandeh Village, Pandrah District, Bireuen Regency, since seven years ago. The delivery of protected animals took place last Thursday," said Nurdin in Lhokseumawe, Antara, Friday, October 21. Owa siamang with the Latin name symphalangus syndactylus is a black monkey with long arms, and lives on trees. Owa gibb is a species threatened with extinction in nature due to shrinking forest areas that are its habitat. Nurdin said the resident got the gibbon gibbon by buying it at the age of one. The gibbon that was handed over was male and estimated to be around eight years old. "The person concerned handed over the protected animal to the BKSDA in good health, and was visually active. However, we will further examine the animal," said Nurdin. According to Nurdin, his party will observe the animal because it has been kept since it was one year old. If the condition is ready, then then the protected animal is released back into the habitat. Nurdin appealed to the public to find and maintain protected animals so that they can notify BKSDA. Control of protected animals without permission is a violation of the law "This protected animal must be rescued and will then be released back into its habitat. We appreciate the residents who are willing to hand over the gibbon gibbon," said Nurdin.
