CENTRAL LOMBOK - Residents of Java Village, Praya Village, Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) flocked back to their homes which had been flooded up to 1 meter.

Head of Central Lombok BPBD, Ridwan Ma'ruf, said that the flood that occurred in the Java Village area had now receded, so residents had returned to their homes.

"The victim has returned to his home," he said in Java Village, Central Lombok, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 19.

As many as 35 families (KK) returned to their respective homes in Java Village today. They cleaned the house from mud due to the flood that inundated the residence on Tuesday, October 18 evening.

Even though the flood has receded, Ridwan appealed to the public to remain vigilant about the impact of natural disasters that can be caused. He said rain with extreme intensity still has the potential to occur based on BMKG information.

"We urge residents to remain vigilant about the impact of rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds," he said.

Previously, the Head of Central Lombok Police, AKBK Irfan Nurmansyah, said that the flood that submerged people's houses in Java Village came from overflowing river water around the location. The river overflowed due to heavy rains that flushed Praya City, on Tuesday, October 18 from 14.00 WITA to 17.00 WITA.

"The river overflow entered residential areas, so that it submerged dozens of houses around the riverbanks with an estimated water level of 1 meter," he said.

Following up, the Central Lombok Police together with the Central Lombok Regency BPBD and related agencies evacuated about 35 families affected by the flood to the SDN 2 Praya building as temporary shelter posts.

"Temporary assistance to victims has been given in the form of bottled drinking water, instant noodles and eggs to residents who are at the shelter post," he concluded.
