Socialization Of Minimized Acute Kidney Failures, The House Of Representatives Asks The Government To Reflect On The Ignorance Of 11 Patients Death In Bali

JAKARTA - Commission IX of the House of Representatives asked the government to intensify the socialization of mysterious acute kidney failure, which has recently hit children in the country. This is because there are still many people who do not recognize the symptoms and actions if they face these health problems.

"A lot of information that is not necessarily circulating in the community. For example, is this case caused by paracetamol or not? This kind of public communication must be managed properly by the Ministry of Health and BPOM, so that the public has correct knowledge from official sources and can prevent the impact of the confusion of information," said a member of Commission IX DPR, Netty Prasetiyani Aher, in his statement, Wednesday, October 19.

According to Netty, people who do not recognize the symptoms of acute kidney failure can make the process of handling disease constrained and not fast.

"Finally it led to death as 11 patients with acute kidney disorders that occurred in Bali some time ago," he said.

Based on the Bali Provincial Health Office, Netty said that 11 acute kidney failure patients were declared dead as a result of being late to handle. He also urged the government to immediately conduct massive socialization of this disease with various media strategies and platforms. "Many parents still consider this disease to be partly flu or common cold so that the handling is not right on target," said the PKS legislator in the West Java electoral district.

In addition, Netty also asked the government to strictly monitor cough medicine from India which is suspected to be the cause of kidney failure in children in Gambia, West Africa.

"Although according to BPOM, the four Gunah drugs are not registered in Indonesia, they must still be closely monitored if someone distributes them. We know that there are many drugs that are not registered with BPOM or the Ministry of Health, but they can be widely circulated," said Netty. Previously, the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) suggested avoiding the provisional administration of paracetamol sirop. This suggestion is a form of early vigilance because it reflects on cases of mysterious acute kidney failure in children in Gambia. It is suspected that the disease arose due to circles containing paracetamol.

The head of the IDAI Central Management, Dr. Piprim Basarah Yanuarso, said that until now, the mysterious acute kidney failure/dispute in this child is still under investigation. However, for the time being, it can take precautions by temporarily stopping the administration of sirop or drugs to children while looking for evidence of the cause of acute kidney failure cases.

Piprim said, children who are confirmed to have contracted a mysterious acute kidney failure or failure are generally healthy and do not have comorbid diseases or congenital kidney disorders.

He suggested that giving medicine should only be for children who have congenital diseases such as asthma and others. Meanwhile, children who have coughs, runny nose and others temporarily avoid giving medicines This is really a mysterious thing.
