Evidence And Suspects Of Extortion Of Transportation Truck Drivers Of The Meninting Dam Strategic Project Were Delegated To The Mataram Prosecutor's Office

The public prosecutor continued the detention of JI, a suspect in a case of alleged illegal levies (extortion) to a truck driver transporting materials for the national strategic project of the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency. Head of the Intelligence Section of the Mataram District Attorney's Office, Ida Bagus Putu Widnyana, said that the detention of the suspect JI was a follow-up to the transfer of suspects and evidence or phase two from police investigators. "So, for the next 20 days, starting from the time we received the delegation from police investigators today, the public prosecutor will continue to detain the suspect in Mataram Prison," said Bagus in Mataram as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 18. Before continuing his detention at Mataram Prison, Kuripan, West Lombok Regency, the prosecutor's office conducted a health check on the suspect. "Because the medical team has declared the person concerned healthy, the team immediately escorted the suspect to undergo further detention at the Mataram Prison," he said. Bagus said that the prosecutor's preparation at the prosecution stage of this case at the trial was still in the preparation of the indictment. "If the indictment has been completed, we will immediately delegate it to the needs of the trial in the corruption court," he said. The research prosecutor had previously stated that the file belonging to the suspect JI was complete in accordance with the criminal charges of Article 12e of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 20/2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31/1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption. Following up on the results of the prosecutor's research, police investigators carried out stage two or transferred the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor, Tuesday, October 18. The police from the Mataram Police Satreskrim handled extortion cases in the Meninting Dam construction project starting with the arrest of the suspect JI in June 2022 in the Sayang-Sayang area, Mataram City. During JI's arrest, the police confiscated money from extortion with a value of at least Rp. 7 million. It was revealed that the money was collected from the levy in a period of 5 days. To the police, JI had defended itself by showing a letter of agreement between the village and the material supplier related to security and development deposits in Dasan Geria Village, West Lombok Regency. However, the evidence of the letter is suspected to have no strong legality.
