Central Trenggalek City Soaks Floods As High As 1.7 Meters, Like This Condition

JAKARTA - Flash floods with a height of 1.75 meters submerged downtown Trenggalek, East Java. There are even several other sub-districts that have displaced thousands of people.

Secretary of BPBD Trenggalek Tri Puspita Sari explained that there have been no reports of casualties in the hydrometeorological disaster.

However, the flood impact losses are estimated to reach tens of billions, considering the large number of houses submerged, damaged infrastructure and agricultural areas covered with puddles to resemble telaga.

"The worst flooding occurred in the Tamanan and Kelutan sub-districts, Trenggalek city," said Tri Puspita Sari, October 18, as reported by Antara.

Apart from Trenggalek District, the flood also submerged a number of villages in Karangan, Gandusari and Pogalan sub-districts.

The evacuation process until this news is written is still being carried out by Basarnas together with joint TNI/Polri officers, Satpol PP and hundreds of volunteers from various elements of society.

While the flood began to recede, the rain again flushed most of the Trenggalek area.

Weather conditions that tend to be wet make residents wary of further flooding again trigger the rise of the surface of puddles in residential areas.

The impact of flooding also caused traffic flow from and to the city center to break completely.

Many vehicles from the Tulungagung direction, especially public transportation, chose to stop and park on the side of the road to wait for the flood to recede.
