18 People Are Secured By Metro Police For Gambling, Sharp Weapons, Alcohol And Illegal Drugs

Metro Jaya Police arrested 18 people for various types of violations of the law in the early hours of Sunday's criminal act.

"A total of 18 people were arrested in the Street Crime Operation because they were caught carrying sharp weapons (sajam) and gambling," said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police Kombes Pol Endra Zulpan, as quoted from Antara, Sunday, October 17.

Zulpan revealed that 18 people were arrested by the North Jakarta Metro Police for being caught playing gambling and carrying sharp weapons of the type of sickle.

Of the 18 people, the police also confiscated 28 packs of sedatives, three strips of tramadol, one bottle of alcoholic beverages, and seven units of motorcycles that were not equipped with documents.

Then in the Street Crime Operation carried out by the Bekasi Metro Police, officers secured one teenager who was caught carrying a sharp weapon of the type of sickle.

Meanwhile, the South Tangerang Police have secured a motorbike that is not equipped with vehicle documents.

Zulpan also said that Metro Jaya Police is committed to continuing to maintain the jurisdiction of the Metro Jaya Police so that it remains in a safe and peaceful situation.

"The Metro Jaya Police will continue to carry out Street Crime Operations to prevent criminal acts or disturbances to public security and order," he said.

Previously, the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Pol Fadil instructed his staff to increase the frequency of night patrols in Jakarta and its surroundings as an effort to prevent crimes and provide a sense of security to the community.

"I have ordered the ranks to further increase the patrol frequency," said Fadil.

Fadil even ordered all his staff not to hesitate to take firm action against every perpetrator of the crime.

"My orders, arrest criminals, protect the community. There is no compromise!" he said.

Fadil further revealed that the instruction was issued after the Metro Jaya Police received many reports directly from the public via social media regarding various street crimes at night.
