Sandiaga Uno Rests And Accompanys Villages In Papua So That The Citizens' Economy Rises

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the Ugar Tourism Village in Kokas District, Fakfak Regency, West Papua, has a unique history and sustainable ecotourism.

"Seeing these various potentials, we are here and will provide training and assistance. Hopefully we can lift the economy of Kampung Ugar," said Sandiaga, Saturday, October 15.

The Ugar Tourism Village is said to have marine tourism potential which presents a combination of landscapes of small islands, blue sky, and tropical rain. In addition, Kampung Ugar has charming water and land areas, white sand on the coast with coconut trees lined up on the edge.

"All the way to Kampung Ugar, our eyes are spoiled with beautiful views, as well as extraordinary cultural attractions," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.

The islands in Kampung Ugar in the form of Kapur Island (karst) are said to be similar to groups of islands such as in Raja Ampat, Raja Ampat Regency. The islands have archaeological traces in the form of prehistoric paintings on the walls of karst cliffs.

"I just came and was given rain even though the rain was still running, because it was raining in Ugar Village, Fakfak Regency brought blessings. When it rains this area is still beautiful, so Kampung Ugar must be developed as a tourist destination," he said.

The majority of the residents in Kampung Ugar ranged in Islam with settlements that were in the form of elongated on village roads with a changing mosque icon. Most of the residents of Kampung Ugar are Muslim.

Around Ugar Village, there is also a historical oldest mosque located on the Papua peninsula, namely the Patimburak Old Mosque. The mosque is one of the relics of Islamic history in Papua and is one of the centers of Islam in the region.

The community continues to maintain the architecture of the mosque in the form of a combination of churches and mosques. The combination was seen as a manifestation of the strong tolerance between religions in Fakfak Regency.

"The potential of the creative economy in Kampung Ugar also promises starting from the uniqueness of culinary delights such as big yellow rice, gas and gas, tramis cangkong, bamboo-burning chicken, Lontar cake, nutmeg, and grilled coconut rice," said Sandiaga.
