KALTARA - The Tarakan Customs and Excise Service Supervision Office (KPPBC) thwarted efforts to circulate thousands of illegal cosmetics from the Philippines and Malaysia.

A total of 400 illegal cosmetic products from the Philippines were secured from PJT TIKI Tarakan. Meanwhile, 5,168 products and 30 sets of illegal cosmetics of various types and brands were secured from PT. Pos Indonesia Tarakan

"This illegal cosmetic will be sent to various cities in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Java and Sumatra with the mode of goods sent through Jasa Titipan (PJT) and PT. Pos Indonesia," said Head of KPPBC Tarakan, Minhajuddin Napsah in Tarakan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Wednesday 12 October.

The action was in collaboration with KPPBC with the Food and Drug Supervision Center (BPOM) and Korem 092/Maharajalila.

The chronology of prosecution began with information obtained by a joint team on October 5, 2022, regarding the delivery of illegal cosmetics through Tarakan.

The Tarakan Customs and Excise Team received information from Nunukan Customs whose source of information came from SGI (Intelligence Task Force) regarding the delivery of illegal imported cosmetics from Sebatik to Tarakan.

Meanwhile at PT. Pos Indonesia Tarakan, the team found 149 packages of goods sent in the amount of 5,168 products and 30 sets of illegal cosmetics of various types and brands with a total weight of 323.31 kilograms from the Philippines and Malaysia. It is estimated that the total item is worth approximately Rp. 200 million.

"With the disclosure of this illegal cosmetic, it is evidence of Tarakan Customs and Excise seriousness to continue to synergize with various other agencies in carrying out one of the Customs and Excise functions and as a community protection (community protection from the entry of illegal goods, ed)," said Minhajuddin.
