JABAR - The plan to expand the Burangkeng Waste Final Disposal Site (TPA), Setu District, Bekasi Regency, West Java (Jabar), is hampered by the administration of land replacement for residents.

The Head of Hygiene at the Bekasi Regency Environment Agency, Khaerul Hamid, said that although it was hampered, his party ensured that the plan was continuing.

He admitted that the Bekasi Regency Government (Pemkab) is fully committed to responding to the status of waste emergency due to the overcapacity of the Burangkeng TPAS.

"We have socialized and informed the public," said Khaerul in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 10.

He said the plan to increase the Burangkeng TPAS area covering an area of 2.1 hectares had actually been approved by 17 residents of the land area.

"Alhamdulillah, they don't mind. They even said that if the land sk has been issued, please use it first, pay later that's okay," he added.

Khaerul admitted that the Bekasi Regency Government actually regretted the decision to determine the release and expansion of the Burangkeng TPAS, which until now has not yet been issued by the relevant regional apparatus, namely the Bekasi Regency Settlement and Land Area Housing Office (Perkimtan).

In fact, he considered that the expansion of the land was very urgent as a follow-up to the emergency handling of waste in Bekasi Regency.

"The problem is that the decree on the determination of the release and expansion of the TPA has not yet decreased. So we have not been able to expand. Because this is very urgent so that waste management plans and programs in Burangkeng can be carried out immediately," he said.

Hamid admitted that the plan to expand the Burangkeng TPAS area was the result of a study conducted in 2019 and strengthened by land conditions which were declared to have excess capacity in 2020.

"The study that we conducted in 2019, the Burangkeng TPA should no longer be able to accommodate garbage. We have conveyed this study to other leaders and agencies," he said.

Currently, the 9.5 hectare land has been filled with garbage. Although it has been conveyed since two years ago, the plan to expand the Burangkeng TPA has not been realized. Even since a few days ago, the garbage has experienced landslides.
