KUDUS - The Kudus Regency Government, Central Java, has expanded access to roads by dismantling the median road along Jalan Ramelan and parts of Jalan Loekmono Hadi along 1 kilometer.

"We are concerned about the narrow access road to the city. Finally, we took the initiative to dismantle the median to make the road wider so that when a guest enters Kudus the access is wider and smoother," said Kudus Regent Hartopo in Kudus, Monday, October 10, as reported by Antara.

The main road width when there is a median road is only around 6 meters, but when the median is removed it can reach 9 meters.

The Kudus Regency Government has also prepared a budget for the demolition of the median road starting from Loekmono Hadi Street to Ramelan Street for 1 kilometer.

Meanwhile, the budget prepared is around Rp. 3 billion which will later be handled by two regional apparatus organizations (OPD), namely the Kudus Settlement and Environmental Housing Office (PKPLH) and the Public Works and Public Housing Service (PUPR).

When the Revised Regional Budget has been ratified by the Kudus DPRD through a plenary meeting, the road widening project can be started.

Head of the Kudus PKPLH Service Abdul Halil revealed that the street light pole which was previously on the median road along the road would be moved to the west side.

"The budget for this activity is around Rp. 200 million, so that later there is no need for an auction, there is enough appointment so that it can be carried out as soon as possible," he said.

For the demolition of the median road and asphalting of the former median road and the slow lane, it was handed over to the PUPR Service, which received budget support of around Rp. 2.4 billion.

While the work is estimated to take 45 days, although the road asphalting process can be completed in a faster time than the initial plan.

With the addition of 3 meters from the slow lane and the median of the road, the road to the Kudus Square becomes 9 meters so that it is wider because it can become three lanes.
