BPOM Guards Food Safety For Heads Of State And Ministers At The G20 Summit

JAKARTA - The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) oversees food safety for all heads of state and ministers who attended the 17th G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.

"We will oversee the event and preparations long in advance, guarding food safety according to Good Processed Food Production Methods (CPPOB)," said Penny K Lukito as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 5.

According to Penny, food safety escort refers to the Decree of the Head of BPOM Number HK.04.01.1.22.05.19.1573 of 2019 concerning Guidelines for Escorting Food Safety of the President, Vice President, and State Guests.

According to Penny, the escort was preceded by inspection of CPPOB at food processing facilities and a sampling of raw materials and finished food products.

"The standard of the Head of State is zero tolerance or no positive findings on all test parameters," she said.

"All processed food, including packaged food and ready-to-eat food, including food raw materials, must meet the provisions," said Penny.

In addition, BPOM will also oversee the general circulation of food around tourist sites and attractions, including the safety and quality of superior food promoted in the G20 series of events.

"We will also oversee the security of food circulation around the venue, from the airport to the hotel," she said.

Previously, BPOM had overseen food safety at 15 ministerial-level meetings in Jakarta, Bali, Yogyakarta, Magelang, and Belitung.

BPOM also oversees bilateral meetings with Fiji (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the People's Republic of China/China (Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment) including overseeing three ministerial-level meetings in October and November 2022.
