Jokowi's Order To The TGIPF Of The Judicial Tragedy: If Possible, Less Than A Month Can Be Concluded

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF) of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy to complete the task within less than a month.

TGIPF has a very important task. They are required to investigate the deadly incident that occurred after the Arema FC vs Persebaya Surabaya soccer match at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, Saturday, October 1 yesterday.

TGIPF chairman Mahfud MD admitted that the target was conveyed by the President when he reported to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 4.

"The fact-finding team is asked to work if it can take less than a month to conclude. Because the big problem is already known, only the detailed issues that can be worked on may not take a month," Mahfud said at the Presidential Palace, after the meeting. reported by Antara.

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said that there were several things that had to be explored regarding the detailed incident that caused at least 125 lives to die.

One of Mahfud's highlights is about the decision to continue to hold the match at night, even though there are proposals being submitted to the afternoon or evening.

"Later we will process it, right, we have to look at the field, meet who is watching, who is giving the command, who can schedule the match, it is proposed that it will still change at night. There are networks. There are no businesses, advertising, and so on. We'll see," he said.

Before starting to work fully, President Jokowi will soon issue a Presidential Decree (Keppres) as the legal umbrella and the basis for TGIPF's duties for the Kanjuruhan Tragedy.

"Because each institution also has its own investigation team, so this integrated one joins this Presidential Decree. The Minister of Youth and Sports has a team, PSSI has a team, Irwasum has a team. It is good to investigate so that it is clear, then it will be coordinated with us at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, in the team formed by the President," said Mahfud.

According to Mahfud, it is planned that the TGIPF of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy will undergo their first meeting on Tuesday night with a number of agendas, namely understanding the duties of the Presidential Decree, mapping and identifying problems, sharing tasks, and finding conclusions.

"When the task is to call people, they can go to the place. It must be divided, because many parties have to go to FIFA, Polri, village, field, and so on. And there are also those who study the laws and regulations, that's what we will distribute later," he concluded.

Overall TGIPF The Kanjuruhan Tragedy contains 13 people including representatives from academics, namely Rhenald Kasali from the University of Indonesia and the Chancellor of the State University of Yogyakarta Sumaryanto, and Akmal Marhali as the Coordinator of Save Our Soccer and Anton Sanjoyo representing sports journalists from the Kompas Daily.
