JAKARTA - The Bali Provincial Government is optimistic that the number of tourist visits to the Island of the Gods will recover as before the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2023, as a result of the implementation of Indonesia's G20 Presidency.

"I, the Governor, we all have optimism, we have recovered in 2023. The momentum is for the G20 Summit. If it is successful, we must be optimistic that we will return to our initial position before COVID-19", said Bali Provincial Secretary, Dewa Made Indra, in Denpasar on Monday, October 3rd.

According to him, the G20 Indonesia Presidency event will be an extraordinary promotion for the Bali tourism market.

"If it goes well, this (Presidency/G20 Summit) is the presence of the 20 strongest economic leaders in the world", he said.

Therefore, continued Dewa Indra, it is the obligation of all parties to make the G20 Presidency a success so that Bali can get free promotions.

"If the world's leaders are safe in Bali, what about the others? It's definitely safe", said the former head of the Bali Province BPBD.

Dewa Indra said that currently, the number of tourist visits to Bali is quite good, which is around 50-60 percent of the average number of daily tourist visits before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This will continue to move up in line with our promotional efforts. In line with the efforts of the Governor to fight for other stakeholders, both the central government, airlines and controlling COVID-19", he said.

Based on data from PT Angkasa Pura I, the average number of domestic tourist visits per day in September 2022 was 10,776 people and foreign tourists were 9,921 people.

The cumulative number of international passenger arrivals through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport from the beginning of 2022 to 19 September 2022 has reached 1.19 million people and 2.75 million domestic passengers.

In 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic), the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali Province reached more than 6.27 million people, and domestic tourists more than 10.5 million people.
