Video Commentary On Officials Kicking Supporters In Kanjuruhan Tragedy, Fadli Zon: Brutal And Far From Professional

JAKARTA - DPR member Fadli Zon commented on the repressive apparatus to secure the Arema FC match against Persebaya Surabaya in the 2022/2023 Liga 1 round on Saturday 1 October. The match ended in tragedy that hundreds of people died.

According to Fadli, the police acted in an inappropriate manner to deal with the rioting at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, which was accompanied by water gas fired by the police into the stands.

"It's brutal and far from professional," wrote the Gerindra Party politician on his Twitter account, @fadlizon, Monday, October 3.

Fadli said it was related to a video circulating on social media showing officers dressed in camouflage kicking from behind a football supporter who was facing the stands on the edge of the field. At that time, it was only Arema FC supporters without guest supporters inside the Kanjuruhan Stadium.

The video clearly shows the supporters who were subjected to repressive treatment by the authorities toppled over after being kicked from behind.

Previously, PSSI ensured that Arema FC and the Executive Committee (Panpel) for the match against Persebaya Surabaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium would be heavily sanctioned.

It is known that as many as 125 people died in the tragedy of Indonesian football at the Kanjuruhan Stadium on Saturday, October 1.

"Severe sanctions await Arema Malang as well as the committee because this incident is an extraordinary and extraordinary incident," PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi told reporters in Jakarta, Sunday, October 2.

When asked about the audience capacity that exceeds the stadium's capacity, Yunus said that he was still waiting for an investigation from the investigation team in Malang, East Java.
