MAKI Calls A Gold Mining Ownership By Lukas Enembe Hoaks

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) said Papua Governor Lukas Enembe lied about the ownership of a gold mine. He is said to have no mine in Mamit, Tolikara, as stated by his legal team. "There is no gold mine in Mamit, Tolikara. The claim that the money from Lukas Enembe came from a gold mine is a hoax," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman in a written statement, Friday, September 30. Boyamin said that his party had tried to trace the website belonging to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and related institutions. As a result, no gold mine belonging to Lukas was found as claimed by his attorney. "With no such permit, it is certain that there will be no legal mining, if there is a mining by the Lukas Enembe party, it can be declared illegal which violates the Minerba Law so that the results can be confiscated by the state," he said. In addition, this finding also raises questions about where the money Lukas used to gamble came from. Boyamin hopes to explain everything before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators. "MAKI urges Lukas Enembe to immediately fulfill the KPK's summons to explain all the origins of his wealth so that the alleged corruption case becomes clear," he said. As previously reported, Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's attorney, Stefanus Roy Rening, said his client had many gold mines including Freeport. This statement was issued directly by Lukas. "I asked the Governor (Lukas) before I came here, the Governor had this statement, with a smile he said, 'That's Freeport I have. Do you have any doubts about that? I have Freeport, as governor, I have Freeport, do you have any doubts?'," said Stefanus. In addition, Lukas is also said to have a gold mine in Tolikara Regency, Papua. However, the administration of his ownership has not been completed. "Let's accompany together, we go together to Tolikara, we'll see if it's a mine," he concluded.
