KLHK Plans For Additional 'Rappas' Benefits Of PT SIPP For Environmental Recovery

JAKARTA - The Director General of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the KLHK Rasio Ridho Sani plans to impose additional penalties in the form of profit confiscation in the case of environmental pollution of PT SIPP in Bengkalis Regency, Riau to help restore the environment in polluted areas. "I ask investigators to enforce the law and explore investigations related to their corporate crimes, including the imposition of additional criminal penalties in the form of confiscation of profits for environmental restoration," said Director General of Gakkum KLHK Ratio Ridho at a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, September 27. The additional criminal offense was carried out because PT SIPP was suspected of taking actions that sacrificed the environment for profit. "I will also ask to investigate the crime of money laundering against the perpetrators of this crime," he said. Ratio Ridho said that PT SIPP had repeatedly taken actions that caused environmental pollution. The company, which operates in Bengkalis Regency, Riau, also does not comply with the provisions for revocation of business licensing and continues to operate. PT SIPP has been sanctioned by the Bengkalis Regency Environment Service before the permit was lifted. The company engaged in the palm oil industry carried out direct waste disposal and processed the Waste Water Processing Installation (IPAL) not in accordance with the provisions and did not have a B3 waste and waste management permit. Based on the results of the analysis of laboratory samples, it is known that river water around the area of operation shows that pollution has occurred. Gakkum KLHK then secured two suspects from PT SIPP, namely AN as the general manager and EK as the director of the palm oil processing company. Both face a 10-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp. 10 billion.
