LUMAJANG - Head of the Supervisory Section of the Financial Services Institute of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Jember Zulkilfi appealed to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) not to be tempted by illegal online loans or loans.
"To protect MSMEs, financial literacy needs to be done so that people are not trapped in illegal online loans in the business development process," he said while providing financial literacy training to MSMEs in Lumajang Regency, East Java, Antara, Sunday, September 25.
Bank Indonesia together with OJK Jember and the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) held an activity "Socialization of Love, Proud to Understand Rupiah and MSME Training" at the PKK Panti Hall of Lumajang Regency.
According to him, the MSME sector needs to be encouraged to continue to develop because many people, including MSME players, do not understand how to manage good finances, so they are trapped in illegal online loans.
"If the understanding of MSMEs regarding financial literacy increases, then of course it will have an impact on businesses that are managed to get better and not easily tempted by illegal online loans," he said.
He explained that OJK will continue to encourage development and make MSMEs a new source of economic growth in the regions which is expected to improve people's welfare and support national economic recovery.
"In that training, we hope to increase the understanding of MSME actors to always be aware of illegal online loans and increase financial inclusion through facilitation of financing financial services institutions," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Lumajang Regency PKK Mobilization Team, Musfarinah Thoriq, or who is familiarly called Ning Farin, hoped that MSME actors would be more vigilant and not easily tempted by illegal online loans.
"We really hope that MSMEs should not be easily tempted by online loans and that is very disturbing. Hopefully, these activities will be an enlightenment, especially for them in running their business," he said.
The MSME training was attended by 110 MSME actors including village heads and foreign tourists in Lumajang Regency and symbolically given the realization of KUR to MSME actors facilitated by BRI Lumajang.
