Responds Of Supreme Court Justice To Suspect Suap, Mahfud MD: Judge Fort Justice, Don't Be Silent

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD asked that the bribery case in the Supreme Court (MA) which was dismantled by the KPK must be thoroughly investigated.

Mahfud MD, said that law enforcement officers at the Supreme Court who were caught in the bribery case in handling the case must be given severe punishment.

"It must be investigated thoroughly and the punishment must be severe because this is a judge," said Mahfud in East Java, Friday, September 23.

Mahfud explained that his party had not received detailed information regarding the Supreme Court justice who was said to be entangled in the case. However, he confirmed that the case is currently being handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

According to him, a judge is a bulwark of justice for the community so that if the judge is proven to have committed a criminal act of corruption, then a maximum sentence must be given.

"The judge is a bulwark of justice, if that (the criminal act of corruption) occurs, don't let it be forgiven," he said, quoted by Antara.

He added that if there were parties who protected the judge or anyone caught in the bribery case, his party asked the KPK to be able to thoroughly investigate the benefits of those related parties.

"Now is a transparent, digital era. If you protect, you will find out what you are protecting and what you can get," he said.

In this case, the KPK has named ten suspects. They are Supreme Court Justice Sudrajad Dimyati (SD); MA Judicial Judge, Elly Tri Pangestu (ETP); MA civil servant, Desy Yustria (DY); MA civil servant, Muhajir Habibie (MH); MA civil servant, Redi (RD); MA civil servant, Albasri (AB); lawyer Yosep Parera (YP) and Eko Suparno (ES); and private parties Heryanto totaling (HT) and Ivan Dwi Kusuma Sujanto (IDKS).

The money given was 205,000 Singapore dollars or Rp. 2.2 billion to Desy. Furthermore, Desy received Rp. 250 million from the whole.

Next, Muhajir received Rp850 million and Elly received Rp100 million. Meanwhile, Supreme Court Justice Sudrajad Dimyati received Rp800 million.

The money was given by two lawyers, namely Yosep and Eko for civil cases. Both of them tried to win their client, KSP Intidana to be declared bankrupt.
