Viral, Prison Napi Salemba Can Eat Only Rice Without Lauk

JAKARTA - Prisoners at the Class IIA Salemba Correctional Institution (Lapas), Central Jakarta get cadong rice or uninhabitable meals. In fact, the information is spread on the video of an Instagram account @jadetabek.info.

Seen in the video, it appears that several places to eat for prisoners are only filled with one serving of rice without side dishes and vegetables in it.

"I am quite dimmed by the cadre conditions here, almost every day my friends and I receive only white rice, at least one or two omprengs whose contents are complete, but the rest of the rice has no side dishes and vegetables," reads a written statement in the post @jadetabek.info, quoted on Tuesday, September 20.

In the description of the post, it is written that in order to obtain side dishes and vegetables, prisoners must buy at prison cooperatives around Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 30,000.

The head of the Salemba Class IIA Prison Yosafat Rizanto denied the viral video circulating on social media. According to him, the distribution of food at the Salemba Class IIA Prison has met the applicable standard operating procedure (SOP).

"So the side dishes are not combined with rice. Why are they separated between rice and side dishes? So they don't blend at the time of distribution. Because sometimes they (the prisoners) eat together, some eat directly, some make it afternoon or something will be collected first, let's eat it all, so so it's not stale," said Yosafat at the Salemba Class IIA Prison, Tuesday, September 20.
