Once Arrested 24 Years Old Corruption Perpetrators, KPK Alludes to Successful Corrupt Regeneration

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that corruptors in the country have succeeded in regenerating. The proof is that there are perpetrators of corruption who are still 24 years old and this is concerning.

Deputy for Education and Community Participation at the KPK, Wawan Wardiana, said that currently there has been a shift in the age of the perpetrators of corruption. If in the past many old officials became corrupt, now some young people have been named as suspects.

"When you hear the word corruption, the perpetrators are definitely old people who are about to retire, who occupy high positions. Just imagine, yesterday the KPK arrested a suspect who was 24 years old, meaning that their regeneration was successful", said Wawan in a written statement, Monday, September 19.

As for the suspect, who is 24 years old, Wawan is referring to Nur Afifah Balqis. The General Treasurer of the Democrat Party's DPC was caught in a bribery allegation with the inactive North Penajam Paser Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.

Back in Wawan, the perpetrators of corruption often use all means to carry out their actions. Including, inviting families such as children and wives.

This condition makes the KPK strive to take preventive measures. Anti-corruption education from an early age continues to be pursued by the KPK.

"KPK seeks to prevent this with education, on how to build an anti-corruption culture in society. Then with the prevention, how to build a system so that the entire system in Indonesia has no gaps in corruption", he said.

In addition, the KPK is trying to take action. The goal is to have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators.

"Efforts to take action, of course, we have to run to provide a deterrent effect for the perpetrators", concluded Wawan.
