YOGYAKARTA The public is highlighting the profile of Heru Budi Hartono because his name is predicted to be a replacement for Anies Baswedan who left the position of Governor of DKI Jakarta on October 16.

This highlight arose after the name of the man who served as Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) appeared at the Plenary Meeting of the DKI Jakarta DPRD on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

In addition, Heru Budi Hartono's popularity is considered to exceed two other candidates to replace Anies Baswedan, namely DKI Regional Railways Marullah Matali, and the Director General of Politics and General Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar. So, who is Heru really?

Heru Budi Hartono is a man from North Sumatra Medan who was born on December 13, 1965. His father and mother are R. Moelyoto and Suhartiyah. Heru is currently married to Mirdiyanti, a woman who had been Chair of the Women's Dharma Association (DWP) North Jakarta Administrative City in 2014.

Although he was born in North Sumatra, most of his life is in Jakarta. He even received an elementary school education degree at SDN 8 Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, his first middle school education level was at SMP PSKD I Central Jakarta (1997-1981).

Heru won the Bachelor's degree in Strata-1 (1984-1990) and Strata-2 (1995-1998) at Krisna Dwipayana University in Jakarta.

Heru is not new to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. He started his career in 1993 by becoming a Civil Servant (PNS) with the position of Special Staff for the Mayor of North Jakarta. After that, he became the Head of Subdivision of Facilities and Infrastructure of North Jakarta (1995).

Heru Budi has also occupied a number of important positions. For example, in 2014, Jokowi, who at that time was the Governor of DKI Jakarta, appointed him as Mayor of North Jakarta. Heru served as Mayor of North Jakarta until January 2, 2015. After that he was appointed Head of BPKAD DKI.

Not only close to Jokowi, Heru was also close to another former governor of DKI Jakarta, namely Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok. During Ahok's tenure as governor, Heru occupied the position of Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Asset Financial Management Agency in 2015-2017.

It didn't stop there, he was also lined up to become Ahok's representative in the 2017 Jakarta Regional Head Election to run as an independent lane candidate. However, this intention failed after Ahok decided to run through the political party route.

Regarding his submission as a replacement for Anies Baswedan, Heru Budi Hartono did not want to comment much. The reason is that his name is only a proposal from the DKI DPRD which still has to compete with other candidates.

"There is still another process. It is still far from being processed at the Ministry of Home Affairs," Heru told reporters, Wednesday, September 14.

Heru's name was obtained from the results of a joint leadership meeting (rapimgab) of nine factions of the DKI DPRD. In the meeting, each faction chose three names, bringing a total of 27 votes which were then gathered to recruit the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta.

The results of the meeting managed to capture four names, one of which was Heru who at that time got 9 votes. Meanwhile, Marullah got 9 votes, Bahtiar got 6 votes, and the jury who only got 3 votes were declared invalid to be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
