BALI - The implementation of Car Free Day (CFD) or vehicle-free day in the Niti Mandala Renon Field area, Denpasar, was greeted enthusiastically by Balinese after two years of not opening due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Head of the Denpasar City Transportation Service I Ketut Sriawan, in Denpasar, said that the Car Free Day program in the Renon area will continue every Sunday.

Sriawan explained that during this vehicle-free day, the road portal will be closed and residents' traffic will be temporarily diverted.

"The diversion of traffic from the East side to the intersection of Jalan Pemuda is directed to the south towards Jalan Ciung Wanara and back to Jalan Puputan. From the north to Jalan Kusuma Atmaja, including Jalan Ir Juanda, we will divert it," he explained.

In Denpasar, Sunday, thousands of residents since 6.00 WITA have been seen doing sports activities ranging from walking, running, gymnastics, yoga, to cycling. The implementation of Car Free Day or CFD itself is regulated to be carried out until 10:00 WITA.

"I'm very happy because I have wanted to exercise with my family for a long time, but there is no place and finally it is open again," said Koming Sukerti (48), a resident of Denpasar, quoting Antara, Sunday, September 18.

Koming said that before the pandemic he and his family often exercise at Car Free Day Renon, and according to him the enthusiasm of the community was still high, as seen from the first week of its implementation.

"Hopefully there must still be a CFD, so that there are containers for young people as well, inviting families too, I was also able to participate in the gymnastics," he said enthusiasticly.

Not only residents of Denpasar, residents of More Village, Gianyar named Eka Putraenta (24) were also present during Car Free Day which had been awaited two years ago.

"I am personally happy for sure, because it has been abolished for two years now there is more. In the past, I used to go to CFD almost every Sunday," he said.

Eka expressed his hope that Car Free Day could continue to be carried out. Also in the future, so that the implementation will be accompanied by a number of other entertainments.

Not only for exercise, during the vehicle-free day, Denpasar City LPM also collaborated with 23 culinary MSMEs as well as clothes and one ride for children's games as a rival to residents.

The selected MSMEs are the result of a selection so that traders who can sell in the area claim to be happy, one of which is the owner of a Bali culinary booth, Warung Yan Renon, named Dewi Wahyuni (43).
