Head of Central Lombok Tourism Promotion Board Becomes Suspect in MotoGP Ticket Fraud Case

MATARAM - Investigators from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police have named a suspect in a suspected fraud case in the sale of MotoGP tickets which took place in March 2022 at the Mandalika Circuit.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, Commissioner Teddy Ristiawan, said that the suspect, in this case, had the initials IW, Chairman of the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency (BPPD) of Central Lombok.

"We have named the head of the BPPD as a suspect based on the results of the case title", said Teddy as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 14.

Investigators apply the allegation of Article 378 of the Criminal Code on Fraud. From the results of the investigation, it was revealed that the complainant who was the victim of fraud in this case suffered a loss of at least IDR 66 million.

The suspect IW was arrested by the police in the Central Lombok region, Tuesday, September 13.

Teddy said IW's arrest was part of the investigator's firmness in handling a case.

Previously, the police had invited IW to attend to provide clarification regarding this alleged fraud report. However, until the case went up to the investigation stage, IW did not come to meet the police summons. "That's why a forced pick-up was carried out", said Commissioner Teddy.

Now the file is awaiting the stage of delegation to the research prosecutor. However, before entering this stage, investigators scheduled a meeting between the suspect and the complainant. Investigators have also granted the suspension of IW's detention.

"So, we are trying to get this case resolved through restorative justice by calling both parties to make a peace agreement with a record of returning losses", he said.

If the meeting does not result in an agreement, Teddy ensures that the legal process will continue to the stage of examining the files by the research prosecutor.
