Heavy Rain, Six Highways In Bandung Inundated

JAKARTA - The Bandung Fire and Disaster Management Agency (Diskar PB) noted that six road points were flooded after heavy rains hit the Bandung city at 14.00 WIB, Wednesday, November 25.

Bandung City PB Diskar Disaster Management Head Dian Rudianto said the six points were Inggit Garnasih Street, Caringin Street, Cibaduyut Intersection, Buah Batu Intersection, Pagarsih Street, and Sawah Kurung Street.

"It was observed that there was rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning and strong winds which resulted in several areas of rainwater puddles," said Dian in Bandung, West Java.

The floodwaters also caused traffic to become choked up. Several vehicles were also determined to break through the flood as high as an adult's calf.

Even so, he said that the floodwaters began to recede after the rain subsided. However, the traffic density still seems to exist because it coincides with the rush hour for people coming home from work.

For this reason, his party continues to monitor these flood inundations and also coordinates with related agencies

"We coordinate monitoring communications with technical agencies such as the DPU, DPKP3, Transportation Agency, Citarum and regional BBWS," he said.

In addition, he also appealed to the public to remain vigilant considering that this rainy season has the potential to increase water discharge in the Citarum River Basin (DAS).

"In the Cikapundung River, the water level has reached 150 centimeters. The data can change when the weather conditions are high rainfall and water supply in the upstream area of the river," said Dian Rudianto.
