Minister Edhy Prabowo Got OTT, KPK Asked To Thoroughly Investigate Alleged Corruption In KKP

JAKARTA - The arrest of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Prabowo, is said to be like opening the veil of something wrong with the lobster or fry export program.

Regarding Edhy Prabowo, the Secretary General of KIARA, Susan Herawati, urged the KPK to thoroughly investigate the practice of corruption in the lobster seed export policy which is Edhy Prabowo's flagship program.

"The KPK must thoroughly investigate this corruption to its roots. The entire network involved needs to be dismantled and given sanctions in accordance with the applicable regulations in Indonesia," Susan said in her statement, Wednesday, November 25.

Susan suspects that many things are not transparent and accountable in the lobster seed export policy from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

From the start, according to him, the making of Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 12 of 2020 concerning the Management of Lobster, Crab and Crab in the Indonesian Territory was not based on the principle of accountability.

The drafting of PermenKP Number 12 of 2020 did not have a scientific study involving the Fish Resources Assessment Commission (Komnas Kajiskan). In fact, he said, the discussion tends to be closed and does not involve catching fishermen and lobster cultivators.

"The stipulation of the lobster seed export policy does not consider the condition of the existing Indonesian fish resources. In 2017, it is stated as fully expolited and over exploited," he said.

In addition, Susan also considers PermenKP Number 12 of 2020 to only place catching fishermen and lobster cultivators as mere complementary objects.

The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI) even said that there was a lot of potential fraud in the lobster seed export mechanism. In fact, the lobster seed export license is considered by ORI to be against the constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

"There are criteria that are not clear in determining the lobster seed export company which is carried out by the KKP," he said.

Likewise, Susan, a member of Commission IV DPR, Johan Rosihan, said that the KKP should have been more careful in permitting the export of fry. This is because he heard the news about the lobster seed export game.

"From the information circulating, there are several companies that have already exported, even though they only obtained the permit less than two months after the permit was granted, and this is clearly an administrative violation," said Johan.
