JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Democratic DPD, Mujiyono, said that his party firmly rejected the increase in subsidized fuel prices (BBM). Therefore, DKI Democrats will hold a free pulpit to voice their rejection.
"My friends want to express their aspirations regarding the increase in fuel. We plan to open a free pulpit," said Mujiyono when met at the DKI Democratic DPD Office, South Jakarta, Friday, September 9.
Mujiyono has not decided when his party will hold the free pulpit. What is clear is that this activity will be held at a time close to the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Democrats on September 15-16, 2022.
In the free pulpit later, Mujiyono said that all people can voice the complaints they feel and their aspirations for the impact of the increase in fuel prices.
"Why do we hold a free pulpit? To make it more controlled, it can be controlled. If you have gathered many people, the control will be more difficult," said Mujiyono.
"With a free pulpit, we give opportunities for residents to voice their aspirations. Of course, it must be according to the rules, orderly and not anarchic," he continued.
Furthermore, Mujiyono views that aspirations regarding the increase in fuel prices are needed because this consistency has a direct impact on the economic burden of the community.
Considering that there will definitely be an increase in the prices of a number of basic commodities, logistics, and the transportation sector, Mujiyono said that his party would also accommodate the aspirations of the community regarding the distribution of aid from the government.
"It could be that they want other, for example, compensation and what is measurable about BLT. Pak Jokowi has allocated BLT with regard to the effects of increasing bbm. So, what does BLT want," he explained.
As is known, the government has decided to adjust the price of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) as of September 3, 2022. Pertalite prices increased by Rp2,350 per liter, subsidized diesel increased by Rp1,650, and Pertamax increased by Rp2,000.
In detail, pertalite rose from Rp7,650 per liter to Rp10,000 per liter, solar subsidy from Rp5,150 to Rp6,800 per liter, and Pertamax non subsidy from Rp12,500 per liter to Rp14,500 per liter.
President Joko Widodo admitted that the government had tried its best to protect the people from the turmoil in world oil prices. The 2022 fuel and compensation budget has been increased three times from only Rp. 152.5 trillion to Rp. 502.4 trillion. In fact, the estimate will continue to increase.
However, if it continues to be added, the fuel subsidy will be even more swollen and less targeted. Currently, more than 70 percent of subsidies are actually enjoyed by the wealthy community, namely the owner of a private car.
“ This is the government's last choice. Diversion of fuel subsidies so that prices of several types of fuel that have received subsidies have been adjusted. Some fuel subsidies will be diverted for more targeted assistance,” Jokowi said some time ago.
