KPK Call Anies Baswedan Tomorrow, Firli Bahuri: No Other Interest

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said the statement from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan in front of investigators regarding the implementation of the Formula E racing event. He ensured that the summons was only related to investigating the practice of racism. "Even if someone is summoned by the KPK, then of course there is an interest in making a case clear," Firli told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 6. Firli believes Anies has various information needed by investigators regarding the implementation of the electric car racing event. Thus, it is believed that his statement will shed light on allegations of corruption. "With the light of an event, of course we all people hope whether or not there really is a criminal event," he said. "That's all the interest. There is no other interest," continued the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK. Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said he was summoned by the KPK to provide information about the alleged corruption in the implementation of Formula E. Anies' summons in the case, which is still under investigation, will be carried out on Wednesday, September 7. He admitted that he would come to provide information. "I received a summons for questioning by the KPK on Wednesday, September 7 morning. God willing, I will come," Anies said when met in Central Jakarta, Monday, September 5. The information that will be given is the holding of the electric car racing event which was first held in Jakarta. The former Minister of Education and Culture will explain in more detail to the public after the summons is complete. Regarding this investigation, a number of parties have also been summoned. One of them, the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edy Marsudi, who admitted that he explained about the loan of Rp180 billion from the DKI Jakarta Dispora to pay the commitment fee to Formula E Operations (FEO).
