Rahmat Gobel: Make Tuna Fish To Overcome The World Food Crisis

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rachmat Gobel, said that tuna fish has the opportunity to become one of Indonesia's leading commodities in overcoming the world's food crisis. "Therefore, I deliberately held the 2022 Tuna Fish Festival, as part of an effort to build a culinary diversity of processed tuna fish. Also make this commodity an important part in overcoming the food crisis," Gobel told Antara in Gorontalo, Saturday, September 3. Tuna Fish Festival is held at Ipot Field, Bone Bolango Regency on September 2 to 4, 2022. This event is expected to revive the Gorontalo economy, through culinary and tourism. According to him, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many problems are faced, including in the fishing sector. Through this festival, it is hoped that the economy in the real sector driven by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can rise. Including the enthusiasm of fishing fishermen throughout the Gorontalo area to continue producing. This is one of the important reasons, said Rachmat, to take time to discuss with fishermen from regencies and cities in Gorontalo Province.

Fishermen are expected to convey the problems they face to be overcome together. Such as complaints from fishermen who use fishing boats with a magnitude of 30 Gross Tons (GT) and above, which are difficult to go to sea because of the large number of regulations. "We prevent fishermen from losing energy because of the difficult regulations they face. And ultimately hinder the movement of fishermen," he said. Through discussions with fishermen, which were also attended by regional heads and DPRD leaders, it is hoped that they can build determination so that in the next few years, the fishing sector in Gorontalo will progress and prosper fishermen. Thus, Gorontalo can be transformed as a culinary center for tuna fish with a variety of superior processed products produced, he said.
