JAKARTA - Russian troops managed to test an upgraded Kamov Ka-52M reconnaissance/attack helicopter, in their special military operation in Ukraine, sources said in the domestic defense industry Friday.

"Currently, Ka-52M is undergoing trials of the state and the military has made the decision to test enhanced combat in special operations," the source told TASS, as quoted September 2.

"Helikopter has proven its value in the operation. Following the results of its use, defense officials provide their recommendations to the industry to complete and perfect some systems," the source said.

TASS does not yet have official confirmation of this information claim.

Kamov Ka-52M is an upgraded version of the Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter. As the designers say, the Ka-52M missile armament has been standardized with a series of Mi-28NM helicopter weapons, another advanced Russian gunship, which has helped increase its attack range significantly.

Ka-52M is also equipped with a new gradual array radar station and a long-range missile. This upgraded combat prototype made its debut flight on August 10, 2020.

The KA-52M design features the best technical solutions, acquisition systems and stable remote optoelectronic target identification systems of gyro, new digital drives to increase gun-shoot accuracy, new chassis wheels with more aus-resistant disc and aircraft tire breaking equipment. The VK-2500 engine is mounted on an upgraded rotorcraft.
