JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, visited the Balige Market in Toba Regency, North Sumatra. During her visit to North Sumatra, Puan checked the prices of necessities, including the price of eggs.

Arriving at Balige Market, Puan was greeted by traders and residents. In fact, some of them followed Puan's car. Puan then greeted the residents by distributing t-shirts, books, and stationery for the children.

After greeting the residents, Puan checked the market, which is currently in the process of being revitalized. The revitalization process has been going on for two years, and for a while, the traders are selling on the roadside around the market.

Puan then went around to several stalls. She then asked about the price of chicken eggs which were quite high lately.

"What is the price of eggs now?", asked Puan, quoted from written information, Friday, September 2.

"If the board is now IDR 52 thousand, initially IDR 48 thousand. One kg IDR 30 thousand. We hope that the price will come down soon", replied a trader named Cornelia Siagian.

Puan agrees with Cornelia's statement. Puan stated that she had coordinated with the Government to immediately stabilize egg prices.

“The increase in egg prices is one of the contributors to inflation. We ask the government to immediately stabilize the price", she said.

While visiting the Balige market and having a dialogue with traders, Puan was also accompanied by Bobby Nasution. President Joko Widodo's son-in-law also accompanied Puan to the airport when she was about to fly to Jakarta.

Puan was also accompanied by the Chairman of Commission V of the DPR Lasarus, Deputy Chair of Commission X of the DPR Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, and the Regent of Toba Poltak Sitorus.
