JAKARTA - A total of 11 gamblers were arrested at the South Jakarta Metro Police. The perpetrators are online and conventional gambling players. Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Nurma Dewi, said dozens of perpetrators were arrested over the past week.

"So if online gambling is individual, then if they are conventional, they are in groups. For online gambling 9 people, conventional gambling 2," said Nurma to reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Friday, September 2.

Nurma also explained that these online gambling players made a profit of up to millions of rupiah. They play the Ludo type game, and are betting on money.

"Yes, they play via cellphones, playing Ludo is from cellphones. For online gambling, they averaged more than Rp. 5 million. For conventional purposes, they usually don't have many, on average from Rp. 1 million to the 3-4 million," said Nurma.

Now the online gamblers have been named as suspects. They were charged with Article 303 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
