JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Prasetyo Edi Marsudi admitted that he did not want to propose the name of the candidate for acting (Pj) for the governor of DKI Jakarta to replace Anies Baswedan who would end his term of office on October 16.

According to Prasetyo, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will definitely be able to determine who will occupy the position of Acting Governor who will be sworn in through the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) later.

"I don't comment on the Acting President. I think the President knows better than I do. Moreover, the President is the former Governor of DKI Jakarta. The people (who are suitable as Acting Governor of DKI), he must know," Prasetyo told reporters, Tuesday, August 30.

When asked for a response regarding three names that were widely reported to be included in the DKI Governor's Pj exchange, Prasetyo was reluctant to comment.

The three names are the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, the Chairman of the Regional General Election Commission of DKI Jakarta Province for the period 2008-2013 Juri Ardiantoro, and the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province, Marullah Matali.

What is clear, continued Prasetyo, is that people who will later serve as Acting Governor of DKI during 2022 to 2024 will have to understand and be able to solve a number of problems in Jakarta.

"Regarding the Acting Officer, I don't want to mention names, but those who have to understand Jakarta. Because it's nothing, Jakarta still has a lot of homework. There are many problems with traffic jams, flood problems," said Prasetyo.

Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian emphasized that until today there has been no name of the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta to replace Anies Baswedan. The Ministry of Home Affairs, said Tito, will first ask for input from the DKI Jakarta DPRD regarding the name of the candidate.

"Not yet. Until today there has been no input. Usually, we will ask for input from the DPRD as well," said Tito at the DPR building, Senayan.

Anies Baswedan's term of office will end in October 2022. According to Tito, Anies' replacement will be discussed in September.

Tito said that currently his party is focusing on managing officials who will replace regional heads whose terms of office will expire in September.

"(The appointment of the Acting Governor of DKI) is October. We are doing this from July to December the total is 101. Most of it was in June there were 48. In August we will do it in July. We are working on it at the end of August. We are still focusing on a few more areas which will be discussed in September. October we will start in September," explained Tito.

The criteria for acting governor of DKI, said Tito, are middle-high leadership officials as regulated in the law.

"The rules are very clear, it must be a high-ranking middle leadership official. This means that it must come from the state civil apparatus. The law says that, meaning echelon 1," said Tito.
