JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Fire and Safety Service said that around 70-80 percent of the hydrants in the capital city functioned well, but there were problems with water pressure. Sitriadi explained that so far hydrant water has also been supplied from piped water managed by Aetra and Palyja. However, there are still many areas that have not been filled with piped water. Moreover, waterways for urban hydrants and integrated housing consumption have caused water pressure to be small. "Sometimes we find it difficult there. For example, in areas that still sell water using the self-dirigens," he said.

This means that the area does not get there. "Even though the area is densely populated in that area, right," he said. Regarding the fire in the Simmrug Golf area, South Grogol, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, which scorched hundreds of houses and forced about 133 families to evacuate and one person died, Satriadi also said that the problem of water pressure was a problem faced. For the supply of clean water in Jakarta alone, it cannot be maximized and there are some areas that are densely populated and have not been drained by piped water.

"Finally we rely on natural water sources such as sewers, rivers or canals," he said. The effort made was to build an independent hydrant with a water reservoir below it in areas that are far from water sources and densely populated.
