JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron said many university alumni have no integrity. Many study just because they want to get jobs.

This was conveyed by Ghufron when filling the Academic Cultural Introduction and Student Affairs (PBAK) event for new students at the Harun Nasution Auditorium Building, Syarif Hidyatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta.

"There is an integrity crisis in the higher education environment, one example is because college is only aimed at getting a job," said Ghufron as quoted from the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah website, Saturday, August 27.

Not only that, Ghufron mentioned 86 percent of corruptors are alumni of universities. The reason is because they do not uphold the value of integrity that should be instilled from a young age.

In fact, from this corrupt act, there are various consequences. Starting from damaging markets, prices, and strict business competition, undermining the law, decreasing the quality of life in sustainable development, destroying the democratic process, human rights violations, and causing other crimes to develop.

"Universities actually contribute 86 percent of corruptors. This happens because many university alumni are knowledgeable but have no integrity," he said.

Thus, he asked for anti-corruption education to continue to be improved. The goal is to improve governance to increase integrity.

Students, he continued, must have strong competence and character. The goal is that a 2045 Golden Indonesia free of corrupt practices can be achieved.

"To welcome Indonesia Gold 2045, students must have strong competence, ability, and integrity character," he concluded.
