JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said the signing of the Presidential Decree (Keppres) regarding the dismissal of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was just waiting for the results of the appeal.
Mahfud made this statement after the Professional Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) decided that Ferdy Sambo was dishonorably dismissed. This decision was taken after he was proven to have violated the professional code of ethics for members of the police force.
Not only waiting for the results of the appeal, the signing of the Presidential Decree is also waiting for the proposal of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. However, everything depends on the final result of the current process.
"Later, if the appeal decision is rejected, the National Police Chief proposes to the president to make a presidential decree on the dismissal. It can be done quickly," Mahfud told reporters in a written statement, Friday, August 26.
Previously, the suspect in the premeditated murder Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J, the former Head of the National Police's Propam Division, Inspector General Sambo, filed an appeal regarding the ethical trial decision. The decision was to dismiss him dishonorably from the Police.
The appeal was conveyed by Ferdy after the decision on his dismissal was read by the Professional Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) at the TNCC building at the South Jakarta Police Headquarters, Friday, August 26, early in the morning.
"Please allow the Chairperson of KKEP, how do we convey it in the trial process, we acknowledge all our actions and regret all the actions we have done to the Polri institution," said Sambo.
"But we ask for permission in accordance with Article 69 of PP No. 72 of 2022, allow us to file an appeal," he continued.
Meanwhile, the National Police confirmed that the appeal decision regarding Inspector General Ferdy Sambo would be final. There are no other legal remedies for the special appeal decision related to Ferdy Sambo.
The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, explained that the National Police would not enforce the provisions of the Judicial Review (PK) contained in the Indonesian National Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission in the case of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.
In Perpol Number 7 of 2022, it is regulated that members of the National Police who are found to be proven to have violated the code of ethics can apply for a Judicial Review (PK) as stated in Article 83.
"Especially for Inspector General FS, the appeal is a final and binding decision," said Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, Friday, August 26 in the morning.
