JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police confiscated 1,276 bottles containing illegal liquor (alcohol) from eight sub-districts in the region.
"We are carrying out this alcohol operation to create comfort for the residents and reduce the crime rate caused by alcohol," said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Pasma Royce, Tuesday, August 23.
Pasma said it all started with public reports about illegal alcohol trading activities.
Based on the report, his party immediately conducted raids on several stalls selling alcohol on Monday, August 22.
When asked about the location of the raid on the shop selling alcohol, Pasma did not explain it in detail.
Thousands of bottles of alcohol were confiscated and some of the sellers have been questioned by the police.
"We made a summons, then we did coaching to the liquor seller," he said.

Pasma hopes that this activity can provide a deterrent effect to alcohol sellers so they don't operate again in the West Jakarta area.
At the same time, West Jakarta youth leader Abdul Aziz appreciated the West Jakarta Metro Police's move to confiscate thousands of liquor.
According to Umar, this effort is a form of early prevention of juvenile delinquency so as not to commit serious crimes.
"Because people who are influenced by alcohol will definitely do things that violate the law," he said.
He hopes that the raids will be carried out regularly by the Police in order to maximize the prevention of criminal acts in West Jakarta.
"If we look at roadside stalls, Saturday and Sunday nights are filled with young people buying illegal alcohol," he said.
