BANDAR LAMPUNG - A team of investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) visited the Rectorate Building of the University of Lampung (Unila) regarding the Rector Karomani's sting operation (OTT).

"A team of KPK investigators came to the Rectorate building this morning, and I was asked by the leadership to come regarding the arrival of the KPK officers," said Unila M.

Komarudin said that the arrival of the KPK investigators was related to OTT Karomani because of the alleged bribery case for admitting new students on the independent path.

"I also don't know what his activities are, this could be an indication with the Unila Chancellor. I only accompany him," he added.

Meanwhile, dozens of Unila students gave speeches in front of the Rectorate building to express their complaints and disappointments over the disgraceful actions committed by the officials of the oldest university in Lampung.

In their speeches, the students admitted that they were disappointed with the corruption in the form of bribery at the higher education level which involved the Chancellor and a number of Unila officials.

Previously, the KPK had named Karomani (KRM), as the Chancellor of Unila for the 2020-2024 period, together with Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Unila Heryandi (HY) and the Chair of the Unila Senate Muhammad Basri (MB) as suspects for accepting bribes related to the acceptance of new student candidates (maba). . The KPK has also named the private party Andi Desfiandi (AD) as a suspect for giving bribes.

From the arrests made in Bandung, West Java and Lampung, the KPK stated that the parents of prospective students deposited money according to KRM's request amounting to Rp.

The KPK also found that KRM received a sum of money through the Head of the Planning and Public Relations Bureau of Unila Budi Sutomo and MB from the parents of prospective students.

The money has been converted into savings deposits, gold bars, and is also still stored in cash, with a total of around IDR 4.4 billion. Thus, the total money allegedly received by KRM is around Rp. 5 billion.
