PDIP Opens Opportunities For Coalition Of Political Parties Supporting Jokowi, Golkar: KIB Remains Compact

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party has confirmed that it will not leave the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) with PAN and PPP, even though PDIP has opened up opportunities for political cooperation with the party that carries President Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin.

"Of course Golkar will definitely not leave KIB. Because KIB was initiated by the Golkar Party together with PPP and PAN. How can we leave the coalition initiated by the three parties instead?," said Golkar DPP chairman Ace Hasan Syadzily at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, August 18th.

According to Ace, the three parties that are members of the KIB must keep the coalition together so that other political parties are interested in joining Golkar, PAN and PPP.

"I think it's clear. KIB is a coalition formed and initiated by 3 parties. Of course it is our obligation to keep this coalition compact and to invite political parties to join this coalition," said Ace.

Meanwhile, the political cooperation between Golkar and PDI-P, said Ace, is only a commitment to oversee the Jokowi-Maruf government until the end of the period. Even so, according to him, relations between the two parties are still going well.

"The task of overseeing the administration of President Jokowi and Pak Kiai Ma'ruf will certainly never subside because it has become a commitment from KIB," said Ace.

Previously, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said PDIP opened the possibility for a coalition with political parties that carried President Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin in the 2019 presidential election.

"Yes, not only with Gerindra, PKB, PPP then with Golkar and in short with all political parties that carry Pak Jokowi, right among the general chairmen we often meet together with the President and Ma'ruf Amin, we often have dialogues," said Hasto at the meeting. Hasto emphasized that his party will choose the president and vice president based on the people's choice. PDIP, he said, would later determine where the direction of the cooperation would be narrowed.

"Meanwhile, for us, the president and vice president elect the people, so it is down to the people who are the priority scale and which will lead to the cooperation. PDI-P will participate in determining which pendulum direction the cooperation will be purged," he said.
