Medan Floods Again, Members Of The DPRD F-PKS Criticize Bobby Nasution And His Subordinates Are Not Serious Even Though The Budget Is Big

MEDAN - Areas in the city of Medan have been flooded due to heavy rains that have been pouring since last night. Flood inundation in a number of areas has been criticized by members of the council.

Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the Medan DPRD, Rudiawan Sitorus, assessed that the flooding tends to be increasingly widespread in the city of Medan due to the lack of seriousness of Mayor Bobby Nasution and his subordinates in dealing with floods.

"I received reports from residents in West Sei Putih, Medan Petisah Subdistrict, in Sei Batang Hari who were flooded due to malfunctioning drainage. Flooding in the area was knee-deep in adults. This should be a serious concern for the Medan City Government," said Rudiawan, Thursday 18 August.

This PKS politician said that the flooding that hit the residents' houses was caused by the rain that flushed Medan from night to morning. The current flood is still considered as a lack of serious attitude by the Medan City Government in fixing infrastructure problems, especially drainage.

"We agreed on a large budget to solve the flood and infrastructure problems. A large budget allocation cannot be considered as a serious matter if the implementation in the field is also not right, this flood is proof of that," said Rudiawan.

He said that the infrastructure budget allocation, which currently reaches Rp. 1 trillion, will be in vain if the management and implementation in the field is not done properly.

"People's expectations are very high for the Medan City Government at this time with the Medan Without Flood program. When a large budget has been prepared but the reality is still flooding, we should evaluate what is wrong," asked Rudiawan.

According to him, with a large budget, the Medan City Government should make a clear mapping. Like which areas are priority to be completed first.

"Flood-prone areas need to be a concern, with the existing large budget should be able to solve the problem. I see there are inappropriate policies carried out by the relevant agencies in the field," he said.

"The vision and mission of the Mayor of Medan is very good, supported by an adequate budget. But if the implementation of the vision and mission in the field is carried out by incompetent people, we are worried that this issue will backfire on the Mayor of Medan," he said.
