DPR Reminds KPU To Pass Political Parties Participating In The 2024 Election Based On Requirements Not Pressure

JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) stated that as many as 24 political parties (political parties) passed the 2024 election administration verification stage after their registration documents were declared complete.

The results of the administrative verification will be announced on September 14, 2022, only then will those who pass be designated as participants in the 2024 Election on December 14, 2022. Commission II member of the DPR, Guspardi Gaus, reminded the KPU to remain independent in carrying out any administrative verification process for political parties participating in the election. He asked the KPU to free itself from anyone's pressure by carrying out its duties in accordance with established regulations. "The KPU's decision must be based on the results of verification, namely political parties that meet the requirements, not because of pressure from certain parties," Guspardi told reporters, Thursday. The member of the PAN faction of the DPR emphasized that regardless of the number of political parties that pass as participants in the legislative elections, it must be decided in accordance with the criteria mandated in Law No. 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

"Only political parties that really meet the requirements after administrative verification and factual verification have been decided, which will be able to participate in the legislative elections which will be announced on December 14, 2022," said Guspardi.

The West Sumatran legislator also reminded that the KPU as the election organizer must be professional and not discriminate against candidates participating in the election.

Moreover, said Guspardi, currently there are three categories of candidates for election participants, namely parties that passed to the DPR in the previous election, parties that did not qualify for the DPR, and parties that had just registered as election participants.

"Political parties that are declared complete with registration requirements will be verified. For new political parties and do not have seats in the DPR RI, they must go through administrative verification and also factual verification," he said. but enough administrative verification," added Guspardi. 5. The period for the revision of the required documents and the submission of the required documents for improvement by the political parties will be on September 15-September 28.

7. Submission and announcement of the recapitulation of administrative verification results to political parties and Bawaslu on October 14, 2022.

8. Verification of factual management and membership on 15 October-4 November 2022.

9. Submission of the recapitulation of the results of factual verification of management and membership to political parties and Bawaslu on November 9, 2022.

10. The period of improvement of the management and membership requirements and the submission of the corrective requirements documents by political parties on 10-23 November 2022.

11. Factual verification of improvement in terms of management and membership of political parties on 24 November-7 December 2022.

12. Determination of political parties participating in the 2024 General Election on December 14, 2022. On the same day, the serial numbers of political parties participating in the election will be drawn on the same day.
