JAKARTA - A mysterious call came to 911. There was no sound on the other end of the line. But the police can find out where the caller's location came from.
Location refers to a Zoo. Before dispatching officers, 911 tried to call back and also sent a text message. But there was no response.
Worried that something was wrong, a deputy was sent to investigate this call, August 13 last night.
The address turned out to be Zoo to You near Paso Robles. But the police who came, did not find a single human.
Even more surprised when they finally realized that the call didn't come from a human.
The caller turned out to be a Capuchin.
Police eventually concluded that a Capuchin monkey named Route apparently took the zoo's cell phone, which was on the golf cart.
"We were told that Capuchin monkeys are very curious and will pick up anything and start pushing buttons," police said.
"And that's what Route did... it just happened to be the right number combination to call us."
Capuchin is touted as the most intelligent monkey. Some are even considered as intelligent as chimpanzees. They are small and light, barely over four pounds and can live up to 45 years—with an average of 15 to 25 years.
Because they are smart and easy to teach, Capuchins are often shown on television and movies.
Until 2010, Capuchins were also often trained as service animals but were considered dangerous because of the potential to be aggressive and transmit disease.
