2 Prisoners In Biak Prison Can Breathe Free Air During Indonesia's Independence Day

BIAK - There are 85 convicts of class IIB prison in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua, who have received remission of Indonesian Independence.

Biak Deputy Regent Numfor Calvin Mansnembra handed over a remission decree on behalf of Menkumham Yasonna Laoly symbolically to one of the representatives of the inmates in Biak Class IIB Prison.

Biak Deputy Regent Calvin invited the residents of Biak Class IIB Prison who received Independence remission to be grateful for the government's concern.

"I hope that the reduction in the sentences of 85 inmates can be a lesson to no longer violate the law when they return to society," said Deputy Regent Calvin, Wednesday, August 17, quoted from Antara.

Kalapas Waridi explained that 85 inmates of the Biak Prison who received remission had met the requirements because they had good behavior and routinely participated in the training of prison activities.

"The amount of remission varies from one to six months, yes this is a routine thing every celebration of the 77th anniversary of Indonesian Independence," he said.

Waridi hopes that the inmates who have not received remission will not be discouraged because this program will be implemented every year.

The procession of handing over the decree of 85 inmates of the Class IIB Biak Prison, two of whom received R2 remission, were immediately released. One prisoner named Yohanes Mansoben had to serve an additional sentence of up to two months for not paying the subsidiary money for the court's decision.
