Cases Of Extortion Accompanied By Threats Rise, Bobby Nasution Gathers Medan OKP

MEDAN - Cases of illegal levies (extortion), burglary accompanied by threats are still rampant in the city of Medan, North Sumatra. Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution also took steps to gather youth community organizations (OKP).

The coordination meeting with OKP was chaired directly by Mayor Bobby Nasution with North Sumatra Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Dadang Hartanto and Asintel Kasdam I/BB Colonel Inf Trijoko Adiwiyono. The meeting is expected to build togetherness and mutual agreement in maintaining peace and conduciveness in the city of Medan.

Starting the meeting, Bobby Nasution said that some time ago in the city of Medan, especially in the Medan Belawan sub-district, there was a dispute between the two OKPs, which made residents worried. Responding to this condition, Bobby Nasution hoped that all OKPs with the Medan City Government would work together to maintain stability.

"If only the Medan City Government wants a conducive Medan City, of course it will not be realized properly. Therefore, we gather here to discuss together to discuss what are the inputs and obstacles that exist in Medan City in developing youth organizations," said Bobby Nasution was quoted from a written statement by the Medan City Government Public Relations, Tuesday, August 16.

Bobby Nasution said the purpose of the organization being formed was to foster and shape leadership character. However, the current leadership character is considered not so good so that there must be a concrete solution within an organization itself.

"Currently we find youth organizations that are still violating the law such as violence, threats and extortion. Therefore, I ask for input from all of us present to be able to reach an agreement to create a blessed, advanced and conducive city of Medan," he said. .

The husband of the Chairman of the Medan City PKK TP Kahiyang Ayu also asked all youth organizations to send representatives to develop their skills through training at the Medan City Government, such as welding, baristas and so on so that it is easy to get a job.

"Please ask for the quota amount from OKP friends to take part in skills training. After participating in this skills training, I hope they can pass on their skills to other friends in the organization," he explained.

The meeting ended with the signing of a collective agreement by Bobby Nasution with Dandim 0201/Medan Kol Inf. Ferry Muzawwad, Head of Medan Polrestabes Kombes Valentino Alfa Tatareda and Kapolrestabes Belawan AKBP Faisal Rahmat along with the heads of the nine community/youth organizations present.

The nine OKPs are Pemuda Pancasila (PP), Youth Work Association (IPK), Indonesian Youth Reform Force (AMPI), Youth Communication Agency for Youth Mosques Indonesia (BKPMRI), Laskar Merah Putih (LMP), Batak United Youth (PBB), Youth Merga Silima (PMS), Barisan Pemuda Nusantara (Bapera) and the Medan City Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB).
