Attending The Seminar In Tokyo, Anies Says Japanese People Are Comfortable Riding Jakarta's Angkot

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan told about his activities following a seminar in Tokyo, Japan, through his Instagram account. During the seminar yesterday, Anies revealed that the transformation of transportation in Jakarta is currently attracting the attention of Japanese citizens.

Anies received comments from a number of Japanese citizens who had visited Jakarta in 2021 and 2022. Anies said, they claimed to be comfortable using public transportation such as angkot and public buses.

"They tell us how comfortable it is now to use public transportation and to be able to walk through Jakarta. If they talk about the convenience of taking the MRT then it's not something unique. But if there are Japanese people who talk about the convenience of riding public transportation and public buses, then it's unique and we hear it with gratitude," said Anies in the aniesbaswedan Instagram account, Sunday, August 14.

The seminar attended by Anies was held by The Sasakawa Peace Foundation, which was held three times in Tokyo and Hiroshima.

The first seminar for academics and journalists. Those who have research and studies related to Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The second seminar is for business circles and the general public who have business activities and interests in Indonesia.

In the third seminar, Sasakawa in collaboration with Hiroshima University held lectures for students. From these activities, Anies caught that there are a number of Japanese people who pay attention to the development of Jakarta.

"There are many topics that we discuss. Starting from transportation, health, education, economy, democracy, to the UMP issue. They are indeed quite detailed and painstaking in monitoring Jakarta and Indonesia," said Anies.

"Interestingly, some even say that Japan should learn from Indonesia about speed for learning and unlearning, to be faster in anticipating changes," he continued.

During his visit to Japan, Anies also met with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike to discuss the potential for cooperation in several fields, including environmentally friendly public transportation.

"We discussed many things, especially about efforts to revive after the pandemic, cooperation in building disaster-resistant cities and in the field of environmentally friendly public transportation," said Anies.

However, the former Minister of Education and Culture did not elaborate further on the potential for cooperation between the two cities. Anies also did not reveal when he arrived in Tokyo and how long he would be in Sakura Country.
