PKB And Gerindra Coalition Declaration, Jazilul Fawaid: Many Matches, Military Commander And Santri Commander

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) welcomes the willingness of General Chairperson of Gerindra Prabowo to be re-nominated as a presidential candidate in 2024. PKB also appreciates the invitation and the plan to declare a coalition at the Gerindra Rapimnas event. Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, said his party had a lot of compatibility with the Gerindra Party led by Prabowo Subianto. The two parties, according to him, will complement each other if they form a coalition. "The PKB-Gerindra is becoming more sticky and more intimate, even though these two parties do not have experience of coalitions in the presidential election," Jazilul said in his statement, Saturday, August 13. The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR continued that although PKB and Gerindra had never had coalition experience in the presidential election, he believed the two parties would complement each other. Gus Jazil said PKB was a religious party and Gerindra was a nationalist party. Then, PKB is strong in East Java, and Gerindra is strong in West Java.

In addition, said Jazilul, the general chairman of the two parties also came from different backgrounds. However, both of them are commanders.

"The characters are old and young. Mr. Prabowo is senior, Gus Muhaimin is young. The background is one TNI, the other is 'TNU' (Nahdlatul Ulama Army). One military commander, one santri commander," said Jazilul.

Jazilul added that his party's relationship with Gerindra was getting clearer towards a cooperation agreement today. The PKB and Gerindra coalition, he said, still opens the possibility for other political parties to join.

Jazilul also claimed that the PKB and Gerindra coalition plans have also received support from the structural bases of each party. Especially from the elements that have supported PKB's strength, such as the kiai, the NU community, and various other elements.

"Later, the declaration of the coalition in Sentul will also be attended by Pak Prabowo and Gus Muhaimin. Both Pak Prabowo and Gus Muhaimin will also deliver speeches," said Jazilul.
