BMKG Issues Early Warning For Rainy Areas In NTT In The Next 3 Days

KUPANG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for light to heavy rain in several areas of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in the next three days.

"Light to heavy rain in several areas of NTT has the potential to occur due to humidity from the top to the bottom layer which is quite wet", said Head of the El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station, Agung Sudiono Abadi, in a statement received in Kupang, quoted from Antara, Thursday, August 11.

Agung conveyed that this was related to weather early warnings in the NTT region in the next three days (11-13 August). A number of areas that have the potential to be hit by rain are on Flores Island, namely West Manggarai, Manggarai, East Manggarai, Ngada, Nagekeo, Ende, Sikka Regencies.

In addition, on Timor Island, namely Belu, Malacca, North Central Timor, and on Sumba Island, namely East Sumba, Central Sumba, West Sumba, and Southwest Sumba.

Agung explained that even though NTT is currently entering the dry season, the humidity is quite wet, causing the potential for rain clouds to grow in these areas to be quite high.

He appealed to people in potentially affected areas to be aware of the potential for rain that could trigger hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, flash floods, landslides, and lightning strikes.

"People need to increase their vigilance by taking the necessary mitigation measures to minimize the impact of the weather", he said.
