Commission II Of The DPR Talks About Increasing The Honors Of Ad Hoc Officers In The 2024 Election: Humanizing The Spearhead

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission II Rifqinizamy Karsayuda said that the increase in the salaries of officers from the ad hoc body for the 2024 Pilkada and General Elections is a form of appreciation for the performance of the organizers of the democratic party.

"The increase in the honorarium for ad hoc officers in the 2024 General Election is a commitment from the DPR, the Government, and the election organizers. This is not just to protect, but to humanize because they are the spearhead of the 2024 General Election," Rifqi said in Jakarta, Thursday, August 11, quoted from Antara.

He said the honorarium for the ad hoc body for the 2024 General Election experienced a significant increase, such as for the Voting Organizer Group (KPPS) officers, which increased from Rp. 500 thousand in the 2019 Election to Rp. 1.5 million.

According to him, the officers of the ad hoc agency are the "spearheads" of the election administration, making it impossible to hold elections that are honest, fair, direct, public, free, and secret without protection and appreciation.

"So, the budget increase is almost three times for the 2024 election, one of which is contributed by the increase in the ad hoc agency budget," he said.

Rifqi also hopes that the increase in the ad hoc election budget will have an impact on improving the quality and quantity of the 2024 General Election.

Previously, the KPU RI announced that the Government had approved an increase in the honorarium for the ad hoc body organizing the 2024 Pilkada and Simultaneous Elections, which was contained in the Letter of the Minister of Finance Number S-647/MK.02/2022 dated August 5, 2022.

"The government has approved an increase in honorariums for ad hoc bodies for the 2024 Election (PPK, PPS, KPPS, Pantarlih, PPLN, KPPSLN, Pantarlih LN), compared to the 2019 election and the 2020 election," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari.
